Christopher Hesselbrandt is the Marine Portfolio Manager for QBE in the Nordics, based in Stockholm. With a law degree from the University of Stockholm specializing in insurance and maritime law, Christopher has built a distinguished career in the insurance industry, spanning claims, underwriting, and portfolio management.

He began his career as a claims handler at a local Swedish insurer before moving into underwriting at If P&C, the largest Nordic insurance company. Since 2017, he has held senior marine underwriting roles at AXA XL and now QBE, where he manages some of the most complex and high-value marine risks in the Nordic market, with a particular focus on global cargo programmes.

In addition to his corporate role, Christopher serves as Chairman of the Swedish War Insurance Board, a government agency responsible for national war risk insurance. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Swedish Board of Marine Insurers and has been actively engaged with the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) since 2018. He currently chairs the IUMI Education Forum and has led the development of the IUMI Master Class in Cargo Insurance where he also regularly teaches.
