İsmail Aydın is the Founding Partner of Aydin Lawyers, an Istanbul-based law firm specialising in shipping, maritime and transport law. He advises shipowners, container carriers, P&I Clubs and other industry stakeholders on complex maritime claims, disputes and operational matters.

Before establishing Aydin Lawyers in 2021, İsmail spent more than five years as Risk and Claims Manager and Senior Legal Counsel at Arkas Holding, where he managed a wide range of marine claims and advised the group’s international operations on maritime law, P&I and H&M insurance, casualties and risk management. During this period, he also handled maritime claims and provided legal support for a number of leading international shipping lines represented by or partnered with Arkas, including Hapag-Lloyd and Yang Ming. As a trainer at Arkas Academy, he delivered risk management and claims-related training to employees across the group’s international network.

İsmail holds an LL.M. in Maritime Law from Lund University, completed in a joint programme with the World Maritime University, and previously studied at the University of Copenhagen.
