Simon Swallow joined the Shipowners’ Club in 1991 as Senior Underwriter joining the Board of the Club’s Management Company.  As the Club’s Underwriting Director and latterly the Commercial Director was responsible for driving the Club’s business development from the smallest Club in the International Group to now a strong medium sized Club with over 6,000 Members and over 33,000 entered vessels and a well-respected strong financial capital base and a reputation for offering excellent service standards to owners of smaller/specialist commercial ships.   In March 2015 Simon became the Club’s CEO.  Assuming the role at a challenging period of enhanced market competition from the commercial insurance markets his role is to maintain the Club’s profile through its three branch offices and the development of its staff of over 150.  Simon also supports the important function and profile of the International Group of P&I Clubs.  His role also involves regular liaison with the Club’s Board working closely with the Club’s Chairman in driving the strategic direction of the mutual.

Simon has always worked in marine related industries having started his career as a ship broker he then worked in Hong Kong for a well-known harbour towage and salvage company.  He then moved back to London and worked for seven years with a Lloyd’s insurance broker.
